Where additive earns its place
Complex internal geometry, consolidated assemblies, low-volume spares and jigs and fixtures are the strongest cases. High-volume simple geometry almost always belongs in a conventional process.
Post-processing
Support removal, heat treatment, machining of critical features and surface finishing frequently cost more than printing. Ask for quotes on the finished part, not the print.
