Nearshoring

Nearshoring sits between offshore cost and domestic responsiveness. The trade-offs are specific enough that the answer differs part by part.

What nearshoring actually buys you

Shorter transit, closer time zones, easier travel and simpler communication. Those advantages compound on parts that change often or require frequent supplier interaction.

Logistics and compliance

Cross-border movement adds customs, documentation and broker relationships. Build that overhead into your comparison and confirm who manages it.

When domestic still wins

For low volume, frequent design iteration, heavy or bulky parts, and anything with short-notice demand, a domestic shop usually delivers better total performance regardless of nominal unit price.
